Dr. Rajnish Dhawan

Dr. Rajnish Dhawan is a board-certified physician in Pulmonary, Critical Care, Sleep and Internal Medicine.

He has been in practice in Hampton Roads for the last 18 years. Dr. Dhawan completed his medical schooling from Mualana Azad Medical College in New Delhi, India. He graduated with distinction in Physiology and Biochemistry. He did his residency in Internal Medicine at Western Pennsylvania Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA and later on practiced as a Primary Care Physician for 5 years around Pittsburgh, PA. He joined a fellowship in Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine at Louisiana State University Medical Center in Shreveport, LA in 2002 and went on to join as an Assistant Clinical Professor at the Overton Brooks VA Medical Center in 2005 after graduation.

Dr. Dhawan moved to Chesapeake, VA in 2006 and joined Bayview Physicians Group. He worked as the medical Director for Critical Care and Pulmonary Services at Chesapeake Regional Medical Center from 2006-2019. He has been nominated by his peers as the “Top Doc” in his discipline for the last 8 years consistently.

Dr. Dhawan lives with his wife, Dr. Vandana Dhawan in North Suffolk, VA. They have 2 sons who studied at Norfolk Academy and graduated in Finance from UVA. They are both working in New York. He is a proud Bulldog and Cavalier parent. He is very active in the Indian community and is the current president of India Heritage Foundation, executive committee member of Hindu Temple and former President of AAPI-HR. He enjoys outdoor activities and travel and loves to eat different ethnic food.

Under his leadership our center offers unparalleled care for sleep and pulmonary concerns such as COPD, Asthma, pulmonary fibrosis, sarcoidosis, and lung cancer. Providing convenient services like same-day Pulmonary Function Testing and Simple Pulmonary Stress Testing, the center stands as a beacon of excellence in the medical community.

Dr. Dhawan started Tidewater Lung and Sleep Center in 2020 with a vision of providing excellent patient care with empathy, integrity and compassion to his community.


Ashley Foreman, DNP, FNP-C

Dr. Ashley Foreman, DNP, FNP-C, is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner hailing from Chesapeake, Virginia. She completed her undergraduate education at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia, graduating Cum Laude in 2009 with both a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology (BS).

Dr. Foreman began her nursing career at Chesapeake Regional Medical Center, where she served as a registered nurse in the Intensive Care Unit, providing care to critically ill patients and assisting in managing a variety of complex medical problems. It was during her time in the ICU that she decided to pursue advanced training as a nurse practitioner to expand her scope of practice and deepen her understanding of medicine.

Returning to Old Dominion University, Dr. Foreman was accepted into the Master of Science in Nursing program, specializing in Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) Track. She successfully earned her Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree and obtained certification as a family nurse practitioner through the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP). Seeking to further enhance her professional autonomy and expertise in complex health issues, she pursued postgraduate training at Chatham University, in Pittsburgh, PA, earning her Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) in 2014. Her doctoral project focused on studying patients with chronic lung diseases and the impact of anxiety on breathing.

With over a decade of experience as a nurse practitioner, Dr. Foreman has worked in various healthcare settings, including pulmonary, critical care, internal medicine, hospital medicine, nursing centers, and home health care. She has developed a passion for sleep and pulmonary medicine and is highly skilled in treating obstructive sleep apnea and a wide range of chronic lung diseases such as asthma, COPD, and other abnormal lung findings. Dr. Foreman also has extensive experience in treating chronic insomnia and narcolepsy disorder.

In addition to her clinical practice, Dr. Foreman has served as a graduate faculty educator, teaching courses in Anatomy & Physiology, Pharmacology, Nursing Research, and Medical Ethics.

Outside of her professional life, Dr. Foreman enjoys spending time with her friends and family, traveling, and cooking. She has been gifted with a talent for singing since her childhood and participates in various musical events in her community during her spare time. Dr. Foreman has been happily married since 2012 and resides in the
Deep Creek area with her husband, Shawn. Her husband, Shawn Foreman, is a retired professional football player who graduated from West Virginia University and currently works for a private insurance company.

Dr. Foreman looks forward to many more years of serving her community in healthcare.


Dr. Vandana Dhawan

Dr. Vandana Dhawan is a distinguished physician specializing in Sleep Medicine and Internal Medicine. She brings 17 years of experience in Sleep Medicine to Tidewater Lung and Sleep Center in Suffolk, VA. She previously worked at Chesapeake Internal and Sleep Medicine in the Greenbrier area of Chesapeake. Dr. Dhawan has earned peer recognition as a “Top Doc” for an impressive 15 years.

Dr. Dhawan completed her medical education at Maulana Azad Medical College in Delhi, India, and pursued Internal Medicine at West Penn Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA, followed by a Sleep Medicine Fellowship at Louisiana State University Medical Center in Shreveport under the tutelage of Dr. Andrew Chesson, regarded as one of the stalwarts in the field of Sleep Medicine.

Dr. Dhawan’s board-certified in Sleep Medicine and Internal Medicine. She’s a diplomate of American Board of Sleep Medicine and also board-certified by American Board of Internal Medicine in sleep medicine specialty. She’s a member of American College of Physicians, Virginia Academy of Sleep Medicine and American Academy of Sleep Medicine.

With a commitment to exceptional patient care, Dr. Dhawan has held various hospital staff appointments, including positions at Overton Brooks VA Medical Center and Chesapeake Regional Medical Center. Now, she brings her expertise in treating sleep disorders like obstructive sleep apnea, insomnia, narcolepsy, hypersomnia and restless leg syndrome to the Suffolk community.
